Happy Summer Warriors! OK, I realize that it is still May, but I haven’t made any secret about my love for warm weather. So when the calendar says Memorial Day, I am here for the celebration.
I’ve got another round up of links and loves today. Short and sweet and as usual some things that have caught my attention over the past few months. Nothing is sponsored, just some things I thought I’d pass around.
I am not a proponent of “good” and “bad” foods, but there is a plethora of research out there that indicates that choosing a more plant based diet has serious long term health implications. And this article offers more fuel for that fire.
Another thing I haven’t made a secret about here on MMW? How much being outside, especially to exercise, can impact mood, well being, and mental health. Unfortunately, green space isn’t easily accessible or safe in some areas. But that doesn’t mean that you should sacrifice outside time. This article has some easy tips to maximize outside time.
As a trainer, women often come to strength training with goal of being smaller. This article provides such a thoughtful account of what can be gained through strength training.
And, in case that inspires you to start strength training, here are some awesome progressions for one of those love/hate exercises. Push Ups.
As I said, warm weather means I am outside more and I have been thoroughly enjoying walking outside again. I’ve even taken to counting my steps (up to 10 and then starting over) in the same way I count my breath as an added meditative end to my walks.
We had some huge neighbor turnover in the last 18 months or so. Many families with older kids moved away and there are a ton of kids my son’s age now. It’s been great to hear the noise of play.
I know there was some trepidation (ok, straight up anxiety) for many teachers headed into this school year and I was no exception. I had some great students, though, and it made all the difference in getting through another stressful school year.
Until next time, be well friends!
